In Conversation with Sir Lenny Henry, CBE.

I was honoured to have interviewed Sir Lenny Henry, CBE at Lambeth Townhall ahead of his tour for his new autobiography, Who Am I Again.

Lenny Henry is one of Britain’s best-known and celebrated comedians, with a career which began with cult stardom on children’s television to including writer, radio DJ, TV presenter, co-founder of Comic Relief and an award-winning actor. The audience travelled through sad and funny stories from his life as a 17-year old comedian just starting out, puberty, school friendships, family secrets and racism to an accomplished thespian and Sir.

Sir Lenny wasn’t lying, I “worked him hard” and he graciously gave. After 90 minutes of questions spanning his life, he was naturally tired, but I was determined to get through all 25 questions. We did it, in-spite of his little humorous moan and it was worth it.

It was an amazing evening, Lenny is a true show man and his book, which I read in a weekend to prep for this interview is fantastic. A true legend.

Q&A with Numa Perrier

The American Black Film Festival (ABFF), in Partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, launched ABFF Global Film Series in London, September 2019. Across three days a number of fantastic films were shown. I had the honour of interviewing and facilitating a Q&A with director, writer, producer, and actress Numa Perrier. I met her ten years ago when I interviewed Dennis Dortch, co-founder of Black & SexyTV at BFI for The Black Filmmakers International Festival in 2009.

The interview was just like two old friends talking which was great, full of laughter and revelations. We had a great pre-party with ABFF founders Mr and Mrs. Friday and a brilliant dinner after party.

A glimpse into the awesome interview with @missnuma who shares challenges she faced creating and balancing several hats to bring her lived experience to the screen.
